Fast and efficient retention of polluting liquids

Automatic spill barriers provide fast and effective retention of liquid pollutants without the need for human intervention.

This type of system is recommended to be installed in any doorways with daily transit, so it can be left open without affecting traffic with the certainty that it will activate in the event of an emergency.

Automatic spill barriers can be connected to different types of external signals, in order to ensure they activate autonomously whenever necessary. They are often connected to the fire alarm system, liquid sensors, explosimeters, remote button panels, etc.

We havetwo major categories of automatic spill barriers: pneumatic automatic spill barriers and automatic spill barriers with electromagnet.

Thanks to the work of our R&D+i department, we are constantly improving all our products to adapt to the highest quality standards and our customers’ demands. We develop new designs and improve existing ones. We develop new designs and improve existing ones. We therefore have two major categories of manual spill barriers:

1. Pneumatic automatic spill barriers

The lifting and lowering of these spill barriers is controlled by a pneumatic cylinder. Their main benefit is that they can adapt to any type of doorway or loading dock.

Installation requirements

  • Compressed air connection at 6 bar or automatic compressor. LCF will install one compressed air chamber per spill barrier that must be certified as a pressure device.
  • Electrical connection for power supply.
  • Automatic activation signal.

Safety systems

  • Operation in the event of a loss of the power and/or pneumatic supply.
  • Anti-entrapment system to guarantee nobody is injured by the spill barrier.
  • Acoustic beacon and buzzer in the event of remote activation to warn personnel that the spill barrier will begin to lower.

Optional accessories

  • Additional remote button panel
  • Activation sensors (Liquid sensor, limit switch, etc.)
  • System adapted to ATEX zone
  • Other RAL colors

2. Automatic spill barriers with electromagnet

Automatic spill barriers with electromagnet are an innovative system that functions like a fire door.

In normal conditions, the spill barrier is in vertical position, held in place with an electromagnet. If it receives an activation signal, the spill barrier lowers slowly into horizontal position, and is held in place with a mechanical lever located at the end of the barrier.

The major advantage of this automatic system, compared to the system described above, is that it does not require a pneumatic installation to operate. One disadvantage is that the spill barrier must be disengaged and raised manually.

Also, this system is only designed for doorways up to 350 cm wide It is not suitable for large openings or loading docks.
